The world has an abundance of resources to take in the moment

Inspiration can strike anytime and anywhere. So being able to capture those thoughts is essential. Many of us often get struck by a lightning bolt of inspiration, thinking that it's such a great idea we'll surely remember it or jot it down later. Except that's not the case, and if you do recall it, it's usually slightly diluted or forgotten about because we've got so many things on the go, all of the time. You need to strike while the iron is hot and get those ideas noted ASAP.

One of the best methods to combat this mentality is to carry a notebook or have an easily accessible note app on your phone. This way you'll be able to take brief moments to capture those thoughts on the spot, instead of trying your best to cling onto them. I used to send personal messages to myself on social media accounts of any idea I found noteworthy. ultimately this just led to a chat filled with multiple ideas, half-baked and more, which is fine, but very unorganised and too cluttered to comfortably sift through.

Since last year I've started using a note app to better collate different ideas, making it much easier to revisit and work on previous ideas. It's helped compartmentalise my ideas but also made it much simpler to dip back in when I think of new things to add to a certain story. The app works best for me, but a notebook is great too, nothing too big as you want it to be comfortable and easy to carry with you places, whether, in a coat pocket or backpack, a nice A5 pocket size is good. With this at hand, you can do the same thing as the app, but this will give you a physical entity for all your thoughts as some people prefer a non-digital approach to their note-taking and logging.

The key thing to take away here is you should always aim to have something available to capture ideas down at any moment's notice. Try not to let them fester, you want to log those thoughts whilst your creativity on that idea or thought is bubbling. It doesn't have to be reams of words, but just enough to solidify your idea so that you can revisit it later without scratching your head and trying to recall what past you were trying to say.

Until next time.
